Public IP context

See what an IP address can reveal.

An address shows an approximate location and the network carrying the traffic. Check your own address or another public IPv4 or IPv6 literal.

A request happens only after a button press. This page stores no lookup history.A separate GeoIP service processes the address in memory; the application does not write it to logs or persistent storage.

How to read the result

What the numbers above describe, and how precisely.

  1. 01

    Location is approximate

Country and city describe how a network distributes its addresses. This data does not identify a person, household, building, or precise postal address.

  2. 02

    The network is visible

The ASN and organisation usually show the internet provider, hosting, VPN, or corporate network that announces the address.

  3. 03

A VPN changes the visible address

A VPN can replace the address sites see, but on its own it does not stop activity being linked through accounts, cookies, browser signals, or behaviour.

Why there is no map

A pin on a map claims a precision the data does not have. Coordinates come with an accuracy radius measured in tens of kilometres, and that radius is the honest answer.

A map would also mean loading tiles from someone else’s server on a page that exists to talk about privacy.

Can I see the raw response

Yes — the panel shows the source JSON exactly as the service returned it and copies it in one click. The table above reads the same object.

Where does the data come from

This product includes GeoLite Data created by MaxMind, available from maxmind.com. Lookups run through the separate service; the address is processed in memory and is not logged.

Why does my city look wrong

Providers reassign address ranges, and mobile networks route whole regions through a single point. The database describes the network, not you.

Why can the determined and registered countries differ

The determined country describes address use; the registration country describes where the network is registered. They may differ.

An address is one signal. The browser gives away more.
